The idea to open the cafe came from us to provide another community meeting place within the village to prevent social isolation of all age groups.

We are part of the Chatty Cafe scheme, and are on the local breastfeeding register and welcome families. We also welcome local ramblers, dogs and their owners and cyclists and are advertised on many of these organisations websites.

Read on to see what’s on offer when you pay a visit to Congars Cafe.

We are a small family run business in the heart of the village, owned by Sonya and Ian Stocker.

Our Story

Eat and drink…

Our menu is varied from breakfasts, to light lunches, which include sandwiches, toasties, salads, jacket potatoes, as well as coffees, teas and various other drinks. We offer seasonal menus such as Ploughman’s lunches, cream teas and homemade soup.

We use many local businesses, such as Wogans for our coffee, Winnies for our cakes and bread and Rowan Tree Bakery for our freshly made home baked cakes, Chew Valley Dairies for our milk (which we also sell in refillable bottles) and delicious Chew Moo ice cream. We also make some of our own cakes and use ingredients from Restore Congresbury, a sustainability shop run by two local mums, where you can get your refillable of items such as cleaning products, baking items and much more.

Craft…

We stock a range of locally made crafts such as beautifully crafted mirrors from Wood n Things, jewellery from Eyres Jewellery, fabric made items from Julia’s Sewing Room and glass by Mydsomer Studios. These are just our regulars! Other crafts make an appearance from time to time so please pop in to see what’s new.

Functions and events…

We offer buffet platters to be taken away, these are perfect for office meetings or training days. If you’re looking for cold buffet options for an event such as a christening or a funeral then we would be happy to help, just get in touch

The cafe can be hired for private functions, and we also offer cream tea afternoons.

We regularly hold craft workshops run by Sarah from Mydsomer Studios. These monthly fused glass workshops at the cafe are available to book onto - check the Diary page for dates and more information on these.
